My sweet Luck Dog went to Heaven on December 16, 2011. He was 20 1/2 years old. He just couldn't go on any more. On his last day, he communicated that to me. I join the many of you who have lost a dear pet. I grieve with all of you, also. Marly

Posted - Jan 04 2012 : 4:37:51 PM Audrey: Sorry for the loss of Hobbs. I like what y'all figured out about meeting our pets in Heaven. I'm like you, I can't wait. I've lost many beloved pets, just as many of you have, so I'll have a grand reunion. Alee: Sorry for the loss of Sky-Dog. Luck was a huge part of our family. We'll always miss our pets, but the memories will get better and not so hurting. Thanks for the kind words. Marly

Posted - Jan 04 2012 : 2:20:29 PM Oh Marly! I just read about Lucky Dog's passing and I'm grieving with you. From your stories I believe you gave him the perfect name, he was indeed a lucky dog to come to your loving doorstep in his time of need. That he lived to such an advanced age shows your wonderful care of him. Yes, our beloved pets are all anxiously waiting our reunions with them. I was talking to my DH the other day and we figured that when it's our time Hobbs will be right there bouncing around saying things like "quick, quick! You're gonna love this place, come on I'll show you around. This is the best place!" A big part of me can't wait!
Know you were well loved! And you were "lucky" to have know him.
Audrey
Good boy Hobbs! I love and miss you. |

Posted - Jan 04 2012 : 09:11:15 AM Thanks for the kind words Diane, Debbie, Karla, and Sherry. Sherry: the empty spot is what I hate, also. But--- I have an indoor cat, Gracie. She knows I am missing Luck, but so is she. She continues to sit in his bed meowing. Have a great day everyone. Marly

Posted - Jan 03 2012 : 9:51:06 PM Marly, I think it was Luck Dog's luck to have been dropped those many years ago at your home. And to have given you 20 1/2 years of memories. You both were so lucky. Sorry about your loss. |

Posted - Jan 03 2012 : 8:22:17 PM My heart goes out to you Marly, and I am so sorry for your lose. I lost my 21 year old cat last year and my 16 dog 3 years ago and I still miss them both every day. Animals are such a big part of our lives and our families, and they give unconditional love, when we lose them it is like losing a part of ourselves. We have a 10 year old Golden Retriever, 3 Dachshunds and I hope and pray that they live the long happy life that your Luck Dog did.

Posted - Jan 03 2012 : 09:51:30 AM Thank you Grace, Jonni, Natalie. Such comforting words. Luck Dog loved to chase squirrels, but the last two or three years he couldn't see them. He couldn't hear that well either. However, he could still smell!!!!!!!!!!! Marly

Posted - Jan 03 2012 : 08:07:30 AM I'm so sorry for your loss, Marly--December has been a tough month for us farmgirl pet lovers. Posted - Jan 02 2012 : 7:09:55 PM Thank you Tina. What a nice thing to say, such kind words. I'll remember that. Kris: Luck Dog was 20 1/2. He was dropped off at my house that many years ago. His tail was cut, and not by a vet. It was still bleeding, in fact. I took him to a vet. The vet had to do surgery on what was left of his tail. I hope your Sophie lives as long as Luck Dog did. Posted - Jan 02 2012 : 6:41:22 PM Marly, I love that picture of him. He sure does not look 20 years old. What a long life for a dog. Did you have him that whole time? My Sophie is 14 1/2. I think she might live to be 20 herself. She's still like a puppy.
