So I am getting together a photo album for Sky Dog. She is always going to have a huge place in our hearts and lives. I even have an artist friend that does commision work and I was already planning on having her do one of Tala- it looks like I will be getting two customer charcoal drawings done this winter!
I miss Sky but am actually doing pretty good. She was a good friend and I will always miss her, but I believe that I will see her again. Our animals have so much to teach us about unconditional love- there is no way they would be left out of a final reward.
I have two guardian angel dogs watching over me now and I am grateful for every moment they were in my life. I can't help smiling when I think about them both.
Do any of you do photo albums for your animals?

I did find the decorative tag that I had made for her back when we lived in Moscow. It had dropped off her collar that she sometimes wore and it was in the backyard. I rinsed it off and I think it will make a good addition to the scrapbook. :)

We've always kept our dog's collars with their tags and my daughter has a couple of her stuffed animals wearing them!!! My beloved Nahanni, though, had thyroid cancer and wasn't able to wear one so I don't have one from her.

Yes I have read the rainbow bridge many times and love the imagery.
When we had to put Seanee to sleep it was a huge shock. She was my childhood friend and got me through a lot of emotional junk as a teenager. Then the week of my wedding she had to be put to sleep. One of the things we used to do was wrestle and race down the hallway. The day after she was PTS, I was in the back hallway for some reason and turned and ran down the hallway like I always did with her. I swear I could here her feet hitting the carpet and feel her right behind me. I turned to catch her in my arms and of course she wasn't there. Or at least not in body. I swear that she was there. I could FEEL her- and not just with my heart. I think it was her loving "see you later" and an absolution for having to leave her behind when we moved. She lived out her days with my mom who needed her as much if not more than I did.
When Sky died it was a shock but it was a natural death- not PTS. My heart was crushed (and still is) but I don't have any regrets. She was such a calm and loving dog- I wonder if my calm(ish) acceptance of what happened is because her spirit is helping me through this.
The new puppy is such a dear and needs some groceries (you can feel each of her ribs) and her coat is dry. She needed us and she was the last one of the litter left. She has adopted us so quickly. It's amazing. Even Sky didn't adopt us this quickly!
The photos are in the album but I think I might work on a proper scrap book this winter. She was a great dog and I will really miss her, but she wouldn't want me to be miserable and someday we will have the pain-free horse rides that we were planning. We will just have all the cosmos to ride in!

I keep a picture of my first horse on the mantle. I like to look at it and remember the good times. I think it's very healthy to remember the special places in you heart that animal took up. :)

I like your thought of guardian angle dogs watching over you. Have you heard of the Rainbow Bridge Poem? I've always found great tears in this poem but also comfort.
The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,

I think an album of Sky would be nice. It would be a good way to honor her memory and to share with Nora at a later time. I don't have an album but like others I have pictures around my house of my departed loves. I had such a bond with my last dog (before my Cairn) that I did a "memory box" for him. Among other things I have his dog tags, a jacket I crocheted for him and a list I made of all my nick names for him. I never wanted to forget them so I wrote them down to remind me. I also have an envelope with a snippet of his hair. He and I were able to communicate telepathically and his last message to me was that he was sorry he had to leave me but that we would be together again some day. I never had that bond with my first dog or my precious Cairn but I knew what Max was thinking and he knew what I was thinking. I firmly believe they will be with us in heaven I just don't know if he will be in the form of a dog. But yes, how can we be loved so completely and honestly and not have them with us in paradise? Oh and I still have a picture of him in my nightstand which I look at frequently. He died in 1995 but I still miss him.

I don't have a photo album, but when Kelso died I kept a journal for about 6 months. It helped a lot. He was a gift from my grandpa when I was 7 and I had him until I was almost 30. (he was a horse) He was my best friend. I was devastated when he died. (((((hugs)))))

Nicole- That is a good idea except Sky didn't routinely wear her collar any more.
I am going to have two decorative dog tags made at Petco- One for Seanee and one for Sky. I am going to put them on the marker at the cabin where Sky is buried. I think that will be nice. :)

I did one for my cat that I had as a child through adult hood. I do have framed pictures around the house of all of my fur babies that have moved on. It's nice. If you have Sky's collar, you could attach it to the outside if it doesn't upset you too much. I think it is a great way to remember your furbaby. Hugs to you.
