I am so happy for you!! You can make it anything you want it to be...why you could even add some wallpaper like MaryJane did! Have fun! I sure hope you share your pictures too! Here's one of my girls and their 'greens'.

Just had to bring this back up to share some great news! After many discussions about chicken pens, coops and the perils of varmits, my DH suddenly said, "Let's look at putting them in the garden shed like that gal online." I did an instant happy dance because I NEVER thought he'd give up the end of his workshop/shed/junkroom for chickens! So, this morning I pulled up the blog pictures and started planning! Thanks for the inspiration, Karen.

I ask not for a larger garden, but for finer seeds.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

You are so funny, Marianne!! A victory garden is what Eleanor wants....all the greens she can get! Those are going to be some very expensive eggs!!!

Karen,

What a pretty space. You should get very happy eggs! What fun. I'm thinking you need a bus and an airplane for the gals. Uncertain what Eleanor would like ... maybe a soap box? Cool names.

Wow! What a great little cottage for your girls!! I've got 7 (hopefully) baby hens coming next week and this is just the inspiration I needed to get our coop built. I'll be keeping them inside in a large puppy kennel for the first 5 weeks but now you have given me a great vision for their permanent home!

God Bless & Happy Trails,

Thanks, everyone. I got a shed 10x16 and gave the chickens a 4'x 10' area, on the end. They are will be 3 months old tomorrow, so I don't need nesting boxes for another 3 months. I plan to hang them on the chicken wire wall, so I can get the eggs from the outside. I am looking for a small cabinet with drawers and then I will take off the back and mount it so the drawers face out to the shed, so I can grab the eggs real easy. If you go back in my blog to just before this 'Moving into the Chicken Mansion' post you will see my shed. It has a copula (sp) with a weather vane and double doors. I hope to get started on the chicken run this week. I have been on the road with my vintage trailer for over a week so I have a lot to do....to catch up.

Karen, where is this mansion, in your house? That is some little coop. I love it. But where is the nest box? And I love their names too. They are some lucky little ladies.

Thanks, Ninibini, they sure do love it and when I add pictures on the walls, Amelia Earhart loves looking around at all the pictures! And Eleanor Roosevelt and Rosa Parks seem to love the chandelier!
