Hi everyone! It's been a while, 4-H fair time is keeping me busy! Anyhow, I would really appreciate any information or tips anyone can give about pygmy goats. We raise Boer goats and sheep among other things, but we've only admired pygmies at the fair while we groomed our big ol' Boers. But the other day I met a lovely lady and her husband at the local supply store and chit led to chat and I was offered her mother and daughter pygmies. She needs to find them a good home because she's moving on in her retirement. I just need to know anything I may not know from my other experiences with our own goats. I actually did not find any information on the internet that has satisfied my need to know. Anyone have something to help me with? Any info will be good info for me. I am going to her farm to look them over tomorrow afternoon. They are around 5 and 6 years old. Thanks a million!

not sure if i would breed them too many times with the age that they are. but oh my they are alot of fun to have around-if nothing else they will provide hours of pure joy!! if you already have other goats then you already know what you're in for

Thanks! breeding was actually one thought I had last night. I wondered how big or small the buck should be...glad you mentioned it! My husband wanted to possibly breed them, but I don't know yet. We will just see how they adjust to life here. The lady is having us over today insted of yesterday. Her day got busy and this gave me more time to ponder questions. Thanks for your advice!

not much differance than any other goat to raise, except in feeding, much less or they will become obese real quick...if you plan to breed, make sure that the buck is smaller than the does, other wise you can have delivery problems..
