Well, I had this idea: if rabbit droppings are good for the garden, why not guinea pig droppings? So I went to Petco this evening to buy a pig. It's been fifteen years since I had a guinea pig. I picked out this cute little female and bought some supplies and brought her home. I got her new home all ready, cuddling her and talking to her. then I started wheezing. I looked in the mirror and my neck was all red and itchy from where I'd been holding her. I put her to bed and went in the living room. It took about an hour to recover. Now my nose is dripping. I guess fifteen years makes a difference--I was never allergic to Corky when I had him. So she's going back to the store tomorrow. She's just so darn cute that I hate to take her back. Another good idea bites the dust.

Yeah, allergy shots are especially good if you're prone to violent attacks against certain foods or allergens. Most people that get them now do so to protect them against seafood, bee stings, or nuts. You may not always have an epi pen when you need it.

I put my piggie poo out in the garden, too. I figured why not? They don't eat meat or anything and as far as I know, very rarely carry zoonotic diseases. So, I do it! Sorry you're allergic! :0(

Sorry to hear about your allergy! We have three piggies. I am fine with them but I am highly allergic to the Timothy Hay they eat! I try not to feed them the hay (the pellets are okay for me to be around) or wear a mask if I do.
We have three males. My daughter has two, Buttons and Snickers (Buttons has been with us for 4.5 years but we lost Squeakers and Reese over the years). I stopped at Kootenai Humane Society and instead of falling in love with a dog, I couldn't stop thinking about a pure white guinea pig that was there! A week later he hadn't been adopted to we've had Snowball for over a year now.
The piggies have been more neglected since my daughter got her little corgi/border collie/skipperke, Bella, in February. They still get fed, etc., but Bella doesn't seem to like them much so it's harder to take them out to cuddle, etc.
Sorry for the tangent there! And about your piggy! =(

Hmm, I never heard of allergy shots. I don't know if my insurance covers them or not. I took her back--it's not so much the sneezing as the wheezing. I don't like not being able to breathe. I have enough respiratory issues as it is, with having pneumonia last year and then bronchitis three times over the winter. I'll check my insurance as I
also have allergies to some pollens. thanks.

If you can afford it or have insurance you can get allergy shots from a doctor that will suppress that kind of attack, one shot is good for several months. (Hope this helps) :(

Aw, Cindy, I'm so sorry. I know how that is though. I am allergic to baby animals so bad and I want to just love them to pieces. But I just sneeze like crazy. It was a good idea though. I hope you get over this.
