My poor layers have about an inch of mud/water in their run!! We can't let them roam the yard because of all the predators (during the day too! Hawks, eagle, dogs, etc) so they are plodding in the mud right now!! Hopefully the weather will turn and dry it up--we've been loading it up with shavings so some of the time it's not so bad. They don't seem to mind at all, but it can't be good for them. . .

it's always something, isn't it? :)

try to go get some free wood pallets to lay down but make sure there is no nails sticking out before you lay them down...right now my run is a big mud pit as well so I went & got a bale of bedding hay to put down...yes it will get wet but at least I don't have to worry about them getting stuck & injuring a leg....& with all the mud it smells like a pig sty right now as well....Michele'

I have the same problem. Then they run back in the coop and splash the mud everywhere. The mud is six feet up the wall. What a mess. I sure will be glad to see the sun again

throw down some 2 x 4's and/or other lumber for them to walk on till you dry out...
