I think I've finally found the perfect place to walk my dog. Sometimes when I walk him around the neighborhood, he'll step on broken glass (no sidewalks). So I've tried walking him at different parks but I just wasn't happy with them. Then I discovered a bike trail about a mile from my house. It runs along the levee along a major creek to where it empties into the Mississippi. It's about two miles if you walk to the river and back. I have to drive to get there (again, because of all the broken glass along Broadway) but it's close and it's not very crowded and I always see a herd of deer grazing in the distance. I've also seen egrets and herons. I'm trying to enjoy it now before it gets too hot, since, being a levee, the only time it gets any shade is in late evening. And Boxer seems to like it.

I am glad you found a good place to walk---exercise for both of you.
Remember to take your camera so we can see all the birds and deer you see. MB
