can I use something like this vs. a "dairy" milk pail?

http://www.gardeners.com/Brushed-Stainless-Steel-Compost-Pail/38-560,default,pd.html?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=Google&utm_term=stainless_steel_compost_pail&SC=XNET8119&gclid=CP6ktNXQ6qcCFU9pKgodEkU6bg

The dairy ones are so expensive.

We used old gallon size ice cream buckets and tied our goats inside the barn door. I'd sit on a 5 gallon bucket with the goat standing in the door and milk that way.

I got my stainless steel buckets from Tractor Supply in the dog section. They are dog water buckets. I love them. They are just the right size for each goat. Then I went ahead and bought the big 4 gallon tote from Hoeggar. Very handy thing to have when all the goats are giving good milk. I just dump it all in the tote and put that in a bucket of ice water while milking. It has a lid too.

You need to be sure there are no seams or rivets on the inside, where milk can remain and go sour. I have an old milking pail I use as a compost pail!
