Posted - Mar 23 2011 : 12:41:00 PM My girls were so excited to pick out new ducks last night. Owning ducks was on their "bucket list" of things to do before they are 30. Thought that we could knock that off the list early :).
We picked out 2 Peking and 2 Rouen ducks. Also added 2 buff orpington and 2 araucana chicks to the mix - to add to our flock of 3 hens. The ducklings and chicks are set up quite cozy in the garage under a heat lamp.
News must have spread through the land - we caught a HUGE raccoon in our live trap that is set out by the chicken coop. I hope he likes his new home far away from ours :)!

Posted - Mar 23 2011 : 4:29:09 PM one thing you might try that I use is fox urine spray...I got it a few years back & even my neighbors with chickens ask me to spray around their coops....it keeps away cats, dogs, raccoons, skunks, o'possums, minks ect...they even have tiger urire out there...you can get it at hunting/fishing places but I got mine on the net cause I am not near a place that sells it....i even spray it on the run fencing near the bottom areas....I do get all these critters in my yard but they sure stay away from the places I spray....Michele'

Posted - Mar 23 2011 : 3:16:07 PM Last year, I think that we relocated 15 raccoons and 1 possum. I know that we got a skunk in the live trap. I can't say that his entrapment ended so well.
