Does it ever depress you when you switch over to the "Senior" dog foods? Sky is 8 years old this year and has an injured or torn ACL. The doctor recommends glucosamine so since she is 7+ we bought senior dog with glucosamine in it.

I also splurged and bought her a nice fluffy *huge* dog bed at Costco. It's so funny- she still isn't quite sure it's all for her!

Not depressed, just think about it as being proactive. My senior, Tuffy (a Rott/shepherd mix) started getting glucosamine tablets once he turned eight, even though he didn't look like he needed them. He'll be 12 this year and is just starting to act "old". I'm currently giving him a product called Phycox. He hasn't been on it long enough yet for me to see any real noticalble difference. My vet recommended it.

Hay Ya'll

Alee I have senior dogs too. I had a Dalmation, Lucky, who lived to be 16 and was down in the hips with arthritis. I found a company in Colorado by the name of ZUKES. They make all natural products and they have one named Hip Action. I started giving her 3 wafers a day. Lucky could not get up and down with out alot of struggling and pain until we started on Zukes. She use to have to be carried up and down the 5 steps on the porch but after the 3 wafers and about 1 week she could get up and down really fast and had no trouble using the steps. After a while she even ran up the steps. I highly recommend them and the dogs eat them like they are treats. The expensive dog foods are probably good but does Sky think she is getting a treat ot just dinner? I like this product and the company is a real USA family group. I have recommended them to alot of people and all have had excellent results. Cost is not bad either... some of the pet stores have it too

Lucky was eating them for about 5 years and what a difference...now Hershey is eating them! Lucky has taken the Rainbow Bridge and we still miss her but her last years were better ones.

Love and Prayers,

Daizy
