I woke up yesterday morning to find my 11 year old Rottie, Harley panting and just acting lathargic.
I knew something was wrong. I got showered and ran the hour to our vet to be there the moment they got in.
First things just looked like an infection. I then said, please just do the x-rays. I want to be sure it is nothing else.
We found he has cancer. It probably started in his slpeen and now is in most of his chest. So at this point pain meds and comfort is our only choice. He has been the best dog ever. I truly love him. He has been camping, hiking and gone on almost ever vacation or family outing. He has been a true companion.
I just wanted to share this all with you.
This morning he is better. So I must thank God for this great day.

God Bless

Just a little update, Harley is doing good. we are down to half a pain pill a day and he is doing fine. I think I will leave it at a half a pill. He is still eating good, following me and being his normal old dog self. Thanks again for all the support!

I am sorry that Harley has cancer. We have had several dogs die from complications from cancer and none was easier than the next. Hug him and love him for as long as he is with you. Be kind in his death for some year it will surely follow.

Thanks Ladies to all of you. He has had good days for almost a week! He does nap more, but he is back to following me and loving all of us! My whole family is so sad, My brother wrote a peom like letter about Harely. I wanted to share it with you all. So here it goes...
I remember a sweet little puppy that used to romp around your home that went by the name Harley.
I remember my oldest son barely crawling around on the floor with a adolsent pup that went by the same.
I remember every visit to your hearth and home, every time more joyful because of a kindred spirit I found in a gentle giant I call Har-Har.
I remember being thankful this thanksgiving as my 4th child crawled and waddled along the floor with a senior statesman that still has a twinkle in his eye and a pep in his step.
He is big, He is bold, everyone that meets him loves him.
Grandpa Harley I love you and I thank you for being good to my wife and our kids.
I type all this with tears streaming unashamedly down my checks.

This was one of the most beautiful gifts that I have ever gotten.
Again tahnk you all for all the well wishes. I plan on treating Harley for pain and using the milk thistle. I also will just love this most perfect companion, until we part.

Angie

Angie...Praying for Harley. We had a wonderful Rottie that had cancer too. We gave him chemo and he didn't live long. He was only going to be 6. It was devastating. Good luck and take lots of pictures. My heart goes out to you.

Wende...share the Milk Thistle with me. I'd like to know about it. Thanks.

Blessings and Peace,

Angie- I am so sorry that your dog has cancer. My best dog friend Seanee had cancer and we ended up having to put her to sleep back in 2007. It was very hard but gift of her love and the time she was with us makes me smile. *hugs* My heart is with you.

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
