Ruby came home yesterday evening. She's still on a special diet, but doing lots better. She growled at Matthew (normal LOL), bit Rufus for trying to de-flea her (normal), chased the cat and begged for food which she didn't get. This morning she drank more, but hasn't really touched her food. Maybe it's a little early for her yet.
Poor Ruby has been sick all weekend, vomitting and diarreah. I have no idea what she could have gotten into to make her so sick. I called the vet last night. He told me what to try. This morning I found blood in her poo and it scared me have to death. I called the vet again and took her right in. They did a couple of x-rays and couldn't find anything out of the norm. Ruby was dehydrated so they gave her some fluids, some special food, and lots of meds. She's still not feeling well so please say a little prayer for her.

Hey Sherry! She's doing a little better everyday. She's eating more. She got sick a little in the night and her stool looks a little runny, but not terrible. I may have given her just a little too much to eat today so I'm going to cut her back tomorrow and see how that goes.
I was talking to my friend that gave her to me when she was just a pup the other night. She told me that Ruby's momma, Martina, got into some anti-freeze way before Ruby was born and she wound up putting her on a cottage cheese, rice and boiled hamburger meat diet until she got better. My friend also told me that was something about our peek-a-poos, they have a week stomach. I think she said it took Martina well over a week to get better.
But Ruby is playing and snuggling and getting back to her old ways. Dad came over today and barked and growled like mad at him till he picked her up. And her Jeremy was here. He's really mine, but Ruby says only after she's done with him. She's his baby. LOL

The kids and I just got back from visiting Ruby. She is doing soooo much better!! She's holding down food and may even get to come home this evening! Thank you all so much for your prayers!

Miss Ruby went back to the vet yesterday. She was still getting sick and the vet said that should have stopped so he wanted to check her again. He did some blood work and most of her levels came back fine, just one was low. He says a really bad stomach ache and usually they clear up on their own, but every now and again you have a case like Ruby. They are keeping her for a couple of days to administer her meds through an iv and as soon as she is able to hold down solid food she will come back home. He's very positive she will be just fine but we miss her. He also told us we are welcome to come out anytime to see her so today after work I'm going to take the kids out. Hopefully tomorrow she will be home. :)

Oh you and your sweet Ruby will be in my thoughts and prayers. It is never easy when you have a sick four legged because part of what you can not do is understand what they might be saying so you can assist. Just know your love gives her strength and we at the Funny Farm will send healing light and love to you both. Keep us informed

Thank you. Ruby says thank you too. I thought she was feeling a little better earlier. But I guess the poor pooch over exerted herself and is feeling sick and laying around again. I sure hope she feels better tomorrow.
