Hi Girls, Is Ivermectin cattle wormer ok to give to pregnant goats?! This is the only Ivermectin wormer I have been able to find ( I haven't been able to find the Ivermectin goat wormer) and of course I will down the dosage. Thanks for any help!

I have a jug of Ivermectin Sheep wormer. Give orally. I like to order from Pipeline vet supplies. They have vets that you can call before ordering and visit with them. I don't know if Ivermectin Sheep Drench is OK for goats but they can tell you.
One of the neighbors has over 500 goats and he has had a terrible time with worms this year due to the wet year we have had. The vet called in a specialist to help him get his flock taken care of and the last I heard, it wasn't good. I switch my wormers regularly to be more effective. I also give chopped garlic in the sheep mineral...not sure if it works but in my mind I think I am helping. I also worm the sheep by looking for symptoms of worms. Pale eye, pale gums, watch the sheep poop, and watch for listlessness and weight loss, poor wool.
Rotating the grazing pastures also helps but this year, I did have to fight worms in my sheep. I wormed more this year and I also put out a Safeguard block for a couple of days and then put it up for 13 days and then put the block back out for a couple more days trying to hit the lifecycle of the worms. I also spread lime around the waters and in the barns and do lots of poop scooping.
Hope you can get knowledgeable information from a professional so that your goats can be healthy.

the ivermectin that you give as a shot or orally? My vet said not to use the shot on pregnant goats. orally I am not sure about...

Ok, but I swore that I read about on for goats. I have checked on fiasco farms before because I use her wormer but I am afraid ( not totally sure but I would rather be safe than sorry) that maybe one of my goats has Lungworm and she said to use a chemical wormer and said the best one was Ivermectin. I did use safeguard before but was not happy with it so I switched to Molly's herbal wormer. The one who I think has it is pregnant so that is why I was wondering if it was safe for pregnant goats. Even if she doesn't have it I would rather be safe than sorry. I am not about to loose another goat.

the dose is super high for goats. we use safegaurd, when we use a chemical wormer. normally we use DE and raw vinegar unfiltered. hope this helps hannah. i have used ivermec on preg goats. but i agree with kris. check with fiasco first. happy days sherrye

Hannah, that's what I use also. I have never used it on my pregnant does though. But I would alternate in 2 weeks with something else. And it is used for cattle but vets say to use it for goats only orally. Fiasco Farms tells how much to give.

I did find Valbazen is no for pregnant but haven't found Ivermectin yet. will keep looking.

I believe Ivermectin is the cattle one. I don't think they make an Ivermectin for goats! Will have to do some research.
