It's poop and it is a little lower than the vent, out in the feathers. She really gets into her dust baths, could that be part of it?

I cleaned it off once with a warm water bath. She stayed fluffy and clean for a week and now it is back.

Any thing I should worry about? I remember pasty buns when then one of them was little. Didn't know it'd happen as they aged.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Stephanie, One of my hens (bantam game) gets a dirty rear end if she has had a lot of fresh kitchen scraps/lettuce/berries. She usually gets herself cleaned up in a day or two. I give apple cider vinegar on a regular basis but really seems to help her is a dab of plain yogurt. All my hens love yogurt and I give them a little anytime I think someone's poop if "off". Hope this helps!

the regular helps for sure. the raw you can get at a sams club or costco or your health food isle at the grocery store or health food store. it looks like dirty vinegar. there would be sediment in the bottom. its the sediment that has lots of nutrition in it. the regular will help, though it is sterile. it will change the ph but not offer the live enzymes in the pressed vinegar. hope she is better now. happy days sherrye

Sherrye, would regular apple cider vinegar work? I'm not sure where to get raw unfiltered.

Starbucks and sushi to green fried tomatoes and corn pudding-I wouldn't change it for the world.

stephanie, sometimes they do get the dirty butt. is she better now? i give raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar mixed with course cornmeal. cleans them out. vinegar changes their ph so worms cant live. it also aids in digestion and the pooping.. just a thought happy days sherrye
