Posted - Oct 04 2010 : 12:54:29 PM Hi, I was given a mini in April and we are due to decide which organization to go with for her registration. She is double registered with the AMHA and the AMHR. All she had was temp papers with her old owner and I have to pay to get her current and one organization wants us to be a member also, that is another 65.00 on top of the trx fee and reg fee.
I am wondering if it'd be ok to not do both organizations? We are tight right now and it seems frivolous to pay that much money at this time.
I would like to pick one organization to register her with as her new owners and get everything legal.
Thank you very much for your input.
Stephanie

Posted - Oct 19 2010 : 09:27:26 AM Here are 2 of the pictures I took of Bella when I was doing all her paperwork and trying to get the right photos for what each group wanted. It was a great learning experience. We learned about shadows changing her color...duh! Trying to get all four feet to show, mane pulled over, tail out of the way. I needed more hands. I can't see your photos & I would love to see your "herd". I sent off the papers on Friday and should get some idea if it was all properly done today. Both groups were nice to work with on the phone last week. I just want it done. Thanks for your note Anne. Stephanie

Posted - Oct 18 2010 : 5:44:38 PM Stephanie, 'I didn't get back on here for a bit but am happy to post a couple of pictures. By the way when we show at AMHR shows they have quite a youth division and we often have children as young as 4 showing in their age class. It's unbelievably adorable!
Anyway here are a few pictures of some of our "herd"

Posted - Oct 12 2010 : 10:46:54 AM Hi Anne,
Thanks for the note! I love Bella. We are turning in the papers today, mailing them as soon as I go get the photos printed off. I am glad to get her up to date. She's young and will be with us till the kids have kids. I have someone looking for a cart for us, or we may make one. Do you have any photos you would share. I will put a few of Bella's on her later tonight. Oreo Cookie is her given name! More later, my mom came for a visit and we are having a lovely day and I want to be outside.

Posted - Oct 12 2010 : 06:27:29 AM We raise and show miniatures and love them like crazy. I really feel that it is a shame when registration papers do not get kept up for the animal. As far as registering one way and not the other currently that is a good choice for now. Though I am aware that the seller can get the registration done for you if they are a member and the papers are at least current to be in their name without you having to "join" and pay the additional fee. The $85 I believe is a membership fee. I can check the rule book for you if you would like me too.
Miniature horses are wonderful little animals and we have indeed met some wonderful people through our experience with them.
We LOVE to drive them and usually have a couple driving and working on another 1 or two training to drive.
We work hard to breed and train well conformed, little horses with super dispositions.

Posted - Oct 11 2010 : 07:29:28 AM You should check out the Northwest Miniature Horse Club. When my daughter got hurt on our big horse she got involved with the minis and we went to shows and made really good friends. They are a very helpful, friendly group and you can be as serious about it as you want or just go for fun and friends:) We started with the one and ended up with six. Beth enjoyed the minis so much that I actually gave up the big horses for awhile! They also have many different classes and some for very young children.
Have fun - the minis are a great way for kids to have horses!

Posted - Oct 06 2010 : 1:08:15 PM I have never done 4H but I think they start about 9 or 10. You could probably get that information on-line. I am sure the American 4H club would have a web site. My kids were in middle school when they got involved with horses through our local Girl Scouts. They have a camp up north of here that keeps a herd of 40 horses and that was our introduction to horses. Now they are in college and I own two horse. Go figure. Anyway, enjoy them.

I'd love it if the kids could show her. They are 4 & 6 now. What age can that start? We just moved to the country recently and I need to get involved with the local 4H or another group that can help me find my way around this new adventure. I'd like to breed her in the future.
I think we'll do one now and one in the future. I didn't think of not doing it on time. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I think the late fee is 15.00. Thanks~ Stephanie

Posted - Oct 05 2010 : 12:05:31 PM Why don't you register her with one for now and wait to do the other one when you can. I don't think there is a time limit for registration. My friend has a Quarter/horse mare that is 10 and she is just now getting all the paper work to register her. She has had a few owners before my friend got her and none of them have ever registered her. Pick the one you like the best and do that one now and do the other one later. Just keep track of all your paperwork.
