I have had chickens all of my life, NEVER had them on my porch, but, these new "Isa Browns" wont stay off of my porch... Cannot stand the droppings they leave behind, any help?

LOL - my chickens are everywhere. I haven't figured out a way to keep them from anything without fencing it...and sometimes THAT doesn't even work. They are on our porch/patio thing here too, sitting in the sun, pecking bugs off the patio door while my hubby (who works nights) in inside sleeping (during the day). I'm amazed he hasn't stewed them yet!!

Reason #1 why I'm still reluctant to get any peafowl, but would love to have a bunch

We can handle the mess in the yard and sometimes on the porch, but I fear the potential stress and mess on our vehicles and house roof.

Terri, mine are on the porch, in the window boxes, on the cars, in the cat room eating cat food, next door, on the chairs. Hmmm, they are just all over the place. But that's the way it is when they are not caged. They are happy birds. Oh, also in my flower beds, herb garden, gardens. I have to put nets over whatever I want to keep.

I finally had to put up a fence to keep them out. I can't stand chicken poo on my walkways and porch. Best solution is either that, or screen off your porch somehow.

Our chickens love the porch, too. This is gross, but our dogs clean up the poop. Yuck......I never let my dogs lick me.

For any leftover, I usually hose down the porch. I like Anna's solution of sprinkling the baking soda and sweeping. I'm gonna try that.

Blessings

Mine do the same thing sometimes. They like the sun and eat the catfood.

I buy baking soda in bulk and keep a container nearby and just sprinkle some of this on the chicken poop. When it dries, I sweep it off.

Mine all come and "sun" onn the porch, never stay there too long. Every so often they peck at the door like I am going to let them in. Maybe your porch has a nice sun spot and the like that. I have no idea how to discourage them, and those droppings are gross. Good luck, Carol
