Posted - May 14 2010 : 07:00:23 AM Hello Everyone, Well last night was my 4th riding lesson. The instruction was much the same as the last time except that we went to the outdoor ring for the first time. We have had tons of rain so their was alot of mud and standing water. I went through 2-point, 10 meter circles, and direction change drills with Nellie - the wonderful lesson horse I get to use - and it was amazing how different balancing on the uneven terrain was. I truly love riding Nellie each week. I signed up for four more lessons last night and can hardly wait until next week to ride again. My instructor said that I am the only one who rides Nellie on Thursdays because the other students don't like her. I can't for the life of me understand why except perhaps horses are like people and certain personalities mix and others don't. When we were heading back to the barn last night, Nellie started to whinny and the other horses answered from inside the barn. It was like she was bragging - look at me I'm outside and you are stuck in there. She was practically strutting when we walked inside.
Many of you asked me about a photo of her, so here is a shot my instructor took of me and Nellie from my lesson last night (I hope I uploaded this properly!).

Wishing everyone all the best! -Tina

Posted - May 14 2010 : 09:41:38 AM Beware--you are creating an addiction!!! But a good one. I ride every chance I get. When I start feeling cranky and out of sorts, I usually find that it's been over a week without riding my horse. Just something about them soothes my soul.
I'm glad you are enjoying Nellie. Sounds like she enjoys you, too!
