Oh no... I have had Mona since she was pregnant with her first calf. She does an awsome job...always (so far) calves in late afternoon with no problems so far, except milk fever last year..which I am ready for this year. She was bred AI so I know when to expect the calf. It will for sure be three more weeks. (which is good..I am not totally ready..haha) I can hardly wait though! She is a wonderful mom! (and produces LOTS of milk) This calf isn't spoken for yet. I don't have room to keep him/her, but have never had a problem with selling her calves. Our own farmgirl Libbie has her second calf Evelyn (her only daughter) and lives an hour south of here.
She is a great family milk cow now too.
Sherry..I can SEE the calf move but I can never seem to get them to kick me..and Mona lets me rub her all over...she is very calm. How fun..we will have to see if Maddie or Mona calves first.

well i am not a pro but she sure looks good to me. kfc suggests watching for her to go slab sided.her tail head will start to be prominent. vulva swells and stretches out. she may bag up. they say to watch when birthing is imminent for shiney teats. is this your first cow to calve. i am sorry i do not recall. its so very amazing. new life. you may know all this. i am learning as i go. i have one due in 3 weeks too. maddie is a dexter white park cross. she is a pasture cow. i have her here to try to train. lol we will see.oh more pictures as she develops along. does the baby kick you. i cant get that close yet. happy days on your farm sherrye
