A few friends and I took our horses to the Beach on Saturday. We had a great time and the horses had a great time. One of them went straight into the water, and he was the one I felt sure wouldn't like it because he won't even walk through a puddle. The mare we all thought was completely bomb-proof took longer than anyone else to get into the water. I had so much fun and the horses seemed to really enjoy it. We will absolutely do it again. Fortunately it isn't a very long drive and the beach really isn't that busy. I have been needing a day of fun with all going on with my family. I highly suggest it to anyone that has a horse and access to a beach.

Karrieann, I think that the sound of horses hooves thundering toward you touches you soul deep. I love watching them run, that must have been and awesome sight.

Jennifer, we went to Surf Side Beach. It was really nice. Got sort of busy after about 1:00 but it was great. The beach access is good and you can park right on the beach. If you want directions e-mail me and I will give them to you.

Beth,
Your title of the this thread brought back sweet sweet memories!
This would be back in 1986 when my daughter was about 2 1/2. We lived on the U.S. Coast Guard base up at Neah Bay, WA... the Makah Indian Reservation, located at the most NorthWest point of WA. They are surrounded with beautiful beaches and have free ranging horses, along with cows.
One beautiful day, late Spring my daughter and I went to a beach that is mostly secluded and took a stroll. We have walked those beaches often. It was so breath taking and beautiful solitude, for a while anyways. We decided to just sit on one of those large logs that have drifted onto the beach, best seat! It was still morning that it was misty. The scene was just utterly amazing! As we gazed at the crashing waves, we heard this thundering sound. I waited for a bit to decide if we should be getting back before the rain. The thunder was getting louder but more constant now. The earth under us was also rumbling. OHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYY! we looked down toward one end of the beach and saw splashing of water and sand.... and every imaginable colors of the beautiful animals were heading toward us... our direction. Their manes flying, hoofs kicking up the sand as they ran past us. We were safely out of their way near the trees, the shore line. My heart pounding with excitement. My daughter giggled with delight! Here they come again.. few moments later. Then they were gone. It was the most amazing site that I have ever seen... well, beside the sightings of 48 Bald Eagles along the trees one day when we drove to Clallam Bay.

I will never forget!

Hey Beth, Where did you go? I went a few yrs ago with Candice Callegari and their group. We had so much fun. Was thinking about going but the beach we went to was pretty dirty with trash.

I used to love riding on the beach! It is so good for the horses muscle tone too. The sand is a great muscle conditioner along with the water!

It sounds like you had a beautiful time Beth and Sherry! I have dreamed that dream for a long time of riding a beautiful horse on the beach. Maybe one day that will come true.
Hugs!
