So ladies, I had my second riding lesson last night. I was beyond excited. I was able to groom and tack the horse on my own (just needed a little help from the instructor putting in the bit). We went to the ring and I mounted the horse easily this time. The instructor taught me basic rein and leg motions to control the horse. Well, before you know it I had her walking around the ring in a smooth circle and by the end of class I could guide her through the center of the ring to change direction and walk the other way! I really am loving these lessons. At the end when I dismounted, the horse actually nuzzled up against my shoulder. I think we have bonded now. And - a funny side note - the horse is named Nelly. You have know idea how much fun it was to actually say "Whoa Nelly" and mean it!

Hi Tina -

Where are you taking your lessons? I'm not far from Bangor and might like to try it again too. I took lessons a few years ago in Cresco, but wasn't happy with the instructor.

Thanks!
Luanne
