Posted - Apr 07 2010 : 11:25:32 AM Update: April 8!!All the chicks are here! The post office called at 7:00 am and I ran out to pick them up! First photo is right when I took the top off, they were all piled up, poor little things! Second one is all of them together in their new home. The bigger ones wanted to know what I was doing messing up their happy homes, and the little ones think the big ones are their momma's!!! They are so adorable! They all seem healthy and happy, if a little wild right now! Waiting for my grand daughters to come over so we can name them!
Yesterday though, I bought 6 more Cornish x Rocks because we want more meat chickens.
Homemade box brooder, coop is still in the thinking stages!

Posted - Apr 08 2010 : 06:20:45 AM They sure are cuties. We just gave away the first hatch from our incubator, to friends who are increasing their flock. Now we have set another batch of eggs to hatch the last week of this month. We will raise these ourselves. Is today the day you geet your new chickens? Marcie

Posted - Apr 07 2010 : 6:31:27 PM Thanks girls! I also have 5 New Hampshire Reds, 5 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 5 more Cornish x Rocks, 5 Plymouth Rocks, and 5 Buff Orpingtons coming. I so want some Jersey Giants, and Welsummers, but they may have to wait until next year. They are hard to find! Go for it Kris!!! I am looking forward to yummy chicken that I know have been taken care of. Hard to think of right now, they're so cute, but I'm sure I'll be fine!

Posted - Apr 07 2010 : 3:02:52 PM the good thing about the meat chickens is that they're so soft and cute when they're brand new, but by the time they're ready to butcher, they're ugly and icky :) Not at all like their layer counterparts! :) |

Posted - Apr 07 2010 : 3:00:15 PM Brenda, I have been thinking about getting more meat birds too. I really need to think about it though. But I probably will in the end. I think they will stay put up front in the old chicken yard. So I just might.
What are the other cicks you ordered?
