My DH have limited space here in the middle of the city! So we have 3 cats! What fun! Yes, in the colder months when they get to hang out in the backyard and it's time to come in, I go herding cats. No, it's not easy! The saying about something being like herding cats...so true! The other morning as I was eating my breakfast, Stanley was darting around the backyard! It quite hilarious because he looked like he was dodging something that really wasn't there! Then he would attack the dirt clods (we're gettin ready to plant grass)! It was all quite a sight to see!

Well it's been awhile since I've been here! I was admiring my "herd" today! There SOOO precious! I'm not doing so much herding anymore! My dh put a kitty door in so they can let themselves in out at their leisure! Who's really in charge around here?

How great! I loveed reading all the posts! I have four cats, all inside. Silver is a siamese mix, he weighs 20ish pounds and is huge! Sunny is my bud! He is orange and white tiger, we call him cog, half cat half dog! He will smack your butt, chase anything, wrestle the dogs and is the first to greet visitors! Ginger is a long haired calico. She is the bathroom cat! She loves the one bathroom and will beat anyone else [cats] that enters. Then while you go potty she rubs akk over and purrs! Then their is Lilly, she is an orange tiger and is weird! We got her the first year we were here, someone threw her out of a moving car! She is moody and tiny, she is a lover to my youngest daughter.
I will have to post some pics, if I can ever figure it out!
Again ladies for all the posts! And Carla, they jacket is great! It looked like a picture!

God Bless

Ok, I went out on a hunt.
I was aware that the cat treats available in the grocery store where just empty calories. The vet says that Disa is at the top weight she should be at, so no more junk treats [she's a treat addict].
I needed some ideas for healthy homemade treats for kitties [her diet is alot like mine now].
Finally found some good recipes.

CAT CRACKERS
6 ounces of undrained tuna
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
1/3 cup water
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Measure all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix thoroughly with your hands. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into treat sized pieces. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden. Let cool. Give to your cat and watch them gobble it up.

HAM IT UP CAT TREATS
1 jar (2-1/2ounces) strained ham baby food
5/8 cup wheat germ
5/8 cup non-fat milk powder
1 egg, beaten
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray cookie sheet with vegetable oil spray. Mix baby food, wheat germ, milk powder, and egg in medium bowl. Drop by 1/2 teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool on wire rack. Store baked treats in airtight container or plastic bag and place in refrigerator or freezer.
MAKES 2-1/2 to 3 dozen
NOTE: Beef or chicken baby food may be substituted for ham baby food.

KITTY TREATS
1-1/2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup tuna oil, chicken or beef bouillon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix all ingredients into a dough. Dust hands with flour and form small, 1/2-inch-thick, round "biscuits". Set on greased cookie sheet. Bake 30 minutes (or until biscuits are slightly browned).

So pick a time when the kids are driving you nuts or looking for something to do and get them to help. I guarantee any cats in the house will be more than happy to come help. My cats are always in attendance so they they can get some homemade treats fresh out of the oven.

These are a great base for other treat ideas that are good for kitties.

I'm gonna cook up some of these today when I make the Salmon Patties for my dinners.

Smiles!
Carla

Skye is a very sweet cat . . .
All she needs is a little crown, wouldn't you say?? She already has servants that wait on her hand and foot . . . and mouth!!!
Pets . . . what a treat they are!

Well, here's our "Queen of Everything" cat!!

Her name is SKYE. Because we are of Scottish heritage and love the Isle of Skye . . and because she is our "tartan plaid" cat we named her Skye.

She is about 14 years old but you wouldn't know it because of the way she races around, wrestles with our dog, hunts down gophers, etc.
She is very cuddly, affectionate and my "lap warmer" in the winter, purrs a lot, but only meows when she really needs something.
"
This is her, "would you please put some food in my dish for me . . I'm hungry" look. Why, yes, "YOUR MAJESTY!!!!

Hi Marly,
Nope, Disa is a female.
I think she must be part Siamese though, she has a little of that personality mixed in with the friendly Tuxedo.

Robin, I was thinking how much Renegade looks like Disa. Tuxedo kittys must be popular.

Oh girls, y'all are talking my talk, cat talk!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll have to come back each day to see who else is bragging, rightly so, about their cats. LOL.
Carla, Disa the cat is such a cutie. Is Disa a male? I had a beautiful tuxedo cat, a male, name Henry Dragon. He was my first cat ever. I loved that cat so much. He was so funny. And, he did not like my husband. Later, I'll explain or try to describe some of the things he would do to my hubby. Funny! And, Carla, the applique jacket with the tuxedo cat is good.

When I am doing paperwork and Stanley hears me crumple up any he is ready for the attack! I just bought this funny jingly fuzzy thing but Tiger is the only one who really seems to take an interest in it! The others run away! But I think that fishing pole thing is a great idea...a great way to practice!
Carla, the Disa jacket is wonderful! Wow! What a likeness! I was also going to say that Disa looks a lot like my Renegade except for the white Renegade has on her face!
How many of you others have kitty pics?

I love to throw the rings from the milk jug cap for them, they go nuts with it. I've always had cats, lots of them. If you really want to have fun with them, go 'cat' fishin! My DH bought me a toddler fishin pole and tied one of the cats balls with the jingle bell in it to the end of the line. I cast the toy out and those cats come a runnin! It's reall funny if you can get it to go under the couch and come out the other side. Then when you reel it in, they just don't understand how it disappeared! So funny!

You should post a pic of your kitties Elizabeth.

Oh, I liked that picture of Disa that I took soooo much that I tried to make a jacket applique out of it.
Considering that I don't really know how to sew, I'd say I did pretty good.

What do you think?

HaHaHaHa Cat herding! now that is a fun game at our place too.. We have 2 cats Prissy and Tabitha and they are nuts, especially Tabby. Lucky for me 3 of my 4 dogs are expert cat wranglers and always are willing to help out lol....the 4th dog does not help with the herding...he is terrified of the cats mind you he is 60lbs and the cats are 7 and 3lbs lol

Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused:)

Your cats sound cute Robin.
They are such little personalities.
I have two rescue kitties and they couldn't be more oppsites.
Tibby is the one that runs from one end of the house to the other and pounces on whatever she imagines.
Disa is my more contemplative tuxedo kitty. I can't get any good pictures of Tibby because she never seems to stop moving.
Disa posed for me the other day though.

Just look at that little face!
I wonder what they think about...

Cats are so funny, and a great time to watch. Its fun to see all their personalities come alive - they are all so different. I currently have one curled up in my lap as I write, and one running through my skirt. :)
