Posted - Mar 13 2010 : 6:52:44 PM I just got my turkey eggs. The manuel says to hatch at 99 degrees. But when the eggs rotate the tempture changes. Do I just make sure the temp is correct when the eggs are straight up and down? Help Vicki |

Posted - Mar 15 2010 : 05:38:59 AM Good luck to you all. I have hatched out of incubators and have let my hens hatch out a clutch with pretty good success. As long as the temp stays around 99 you should be fine. My setting hens do occasionally get off the clutch to eat and drink and don't have any problem getting those eggs back into the warmth. If you ever have the chance to feel one of those eggs under a hen you would be amazed at how warm the underside of a hen is. Amazing.
Best of luck to you all, mag |

Posted - Mar 14 2010 : 10:11:29 AM I also have some chicken eggs in the incubator for the first time. My temp stays mostly on 99, but it does vary a few degrees. I am having more trouble with the humidity than the temp. I hope we have good luck with our hatchings!

Posted - Mar 14 2010 : 07:55:28 AM I just set my first batch of chicks. I was concerned about that too till Ole Ron reminded me that a setting hen will get up and eat and drink and the eggs will cool somewhat. The temp drops by 3 or 4 degrees when I turn them but it is right back up to 99 in just a few minutes. Good luck with your turkeys.
