Posted - Feb 14 2010 : 06:06:18 AM I love chickens, turkeys, guineas, geese, ducks, all of them. You don't need a rooster unless you want fertile eggs. Save getting the roo until you move to the farm, that way you don't have to worry about the neighbors. One of you hens will assume the "rooster role", she may even crow a bit, sounds like a roo with bad larengitis, and she may even mount some of the other hens, not to worry it is a natural thing they do. I really enjoy sitting out back with a glass a tea watching mine do their thing, cheap therapy.

Posted - Feb 14 2010 : 08:41:16 AM Thanks for the advice, Kathryn...I was just discussing this with someone the other day...whether we would need one or not. Not wanting fertile eggs until we get to the actual farm....:)
