I took this one to the national forest about 25 miles from my house. DH says I should get some green spray hair dye and mark the ones I haul off, to see if they are making it back here.
I really do hate killing the little buggers, but I hate seeing my chickens dead even more.

Posted - Feb 05 2010 : 7:39:58 PM I'm sorry about your chickens. I would mark them too...we released a momma about 5 miles away and she was back the following year. We knew it was her because she was missing part of her face. We called her "Lucyfur". After 3 years of Lucyfur and her babies, my hubby finally had to kill her. It was a little sad, but necessary. She got 11 hens the last time. Good luck to you!
