I ordered 25 assorted pullets and they came yesterday28 of them, I took them home during my lunch yesterday. I checked on them is thing this morning (while I was down at the barn, milking) every one is fine. I am so excited, I love babies, all kinds. I wanted to get a head start on egg season.

Ahhh, so wait, I don't think they air mail them then? It would be too cold. I guess we are thinking air mail, which is why most poultry hatcheries don't have winter chicks.

Ideal Poultry in Cameron, Texas is where I got mine. I am on their email list. This was a clearance, I got Sunrise Special assortment of pullets at $1.98 each, usually $2.98 to $3.00 on specifc breeds.

Hmm, I am curious about this as well. Which company sends out chicks in the winter?

I didn't know they sent out chicks in winter. If I were to get more I'd want them now, too. This getting chicks in spring then not getting eggs til the next spring ain't a good thing. This way they'll be ready to lay in the spring and ya don't have the whole winter to have to feed non laying chickens.

What kind did ya get?

Baby Chicks for Christmas! I am envious Kathryn. My students have already started to talk about our hatching unit in the spring. Can't wait!
