My daughter and I have this little book called MacPherson's K-9 Cookbook "Easy to Make Dog Biscuit Recipes". We've tried quite a few and loved them (er, the dogs have, though one time I made one of the recipes that actually had canned dogfood cooked into the biscuit, sent it to my friend with specific instructions FOR THE DOG ONLY DO NOT EAT and don't you know she tried it not realizing WHY I said DOGS ONLY??!) Amazon carries them pretty cheap used: http://www.amazon.com/MacPhersons-K-9-Cookbook-Biscuit-Recipes/dp/0968288502/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260551438&sr=8-1

A woman I met walking one day gave me this disgusting, but delicious to dogs recipe. (Just watch them in heat/humidity as they will mold.)

1 lb liver
1 c. oatmeal
1 c. cornmeal
4 eggs
garlic powder
2 TBS oil

Blend in food processor. Grease pan WELL. Spread and cook for 20 minutes at 350.

Blessings!

I make sweet potato chips for my dogs too. YOu could probably baste them in broth before drying them. It gives them a chance to chew and the yams offer lots of fiber and are very healthy. A great alternative to unhealthy rawhides.

very simple dog treat, and mine will kill for them. Sweet potato chips, or dehydrated, the dryed ones will freeze so you can make a bunch.

I know. Mine love theirs. Bubba just about fights the girls for theirs, bad dog. But they do like them. You'll have to keep them in the fridge or they will go bad. I froze 2 quart bags and just took one out yesterday already.

I love her recipes too :) she has some great ones.. The antics of clover the goat is so funny .I made the dog discuits and used 1 cup bacon grease and then a cup of bacon pieces..the dogs went wild over them. I froze some of them for later.. yours will go nuts with the broth in them. The recipe made so many that is is really quite cheap to make them . I want to try some with the beef baby food and cream of wheat next for them :)

Lisa, I am making some dog treats right now. I followed your recipe but just put a qt. size baggie full of the beef stock goodies. It smells good. I think I'll have to store these in the fridge, though.

I love your blog. The cat pics are so funny.

The dog treats are done. They have sampled them and they like them! Thanks for the help.

Oh, I wanted to leave a comment on your blog but it didn't work. ABout the Chickens in the Road blog. She has a forum, too. I have made the Grandma's bread and it's so good. I am going to try the Carmel Pumpkin pecan Bread Pudding, too. That just looks too good not to make. I wanted to make it during Thanksgiving but we had so many sweet stuff I just couldn't.

Kris,
I have heard the onions can cause anemia in dogs - you may want to check it out before you make your treats.

Lisa, I am too. When we had our steer butchered I got all the bones. I just made beef broth with onions, carrots and celery. There is alot of the meat and fat in there too after I strained it all off. So I have 2 quart baggies I put in the freezer to make dog treats with. Now I need a good recipe. I know they will love it. I just don't want to mess it up not knowing what to do. And I would like to use whole wheat flour, too.

So I will be watching here to see what to do with all this good stuff.
