If anyone is looking for a way to help America's horses, this may be for you.

Flicka was part of the Extreme Mustang Makeover in Oregon this spring. Her trainer found herself pregnant about the same time the mare was picked up, and with Flicka being a high flight personality, training was not smooth. The person who was hired to put the first couple of rides on was not the best choice and Flicka was scared, bolted, slammed to a stop and sent her rider over her head. This happened twice. Needless to say, her trainer never got the mare ridden, but she did put an excellent foundation on her from the ground.

With no one adopting her after the makeover, my husband raised his paddle and we brought her home until we could find her a new adopter.

That adopter called the BLM a couple of weeks ago saying the horse was not as far along as she'd been led to believe, and she wanted to give her back. I was notified to see if I could take her back until another adopter can been found.

Mustang U, the organization recently formed up here, would like to send Flicka to a trainer, and we know who we'd like to use, but we're hoping to find folks willing to help support the cost. We've already been stretched beyond our capacity with the others here, but obviously couldn't turn our backs on Flicka. If you think you could help with a small donation to put towards her training, pop me an email at desperatehorsewife@gmail.com

And, for any of those who'd be interested in adopting, she's got a mere $25 BLM transfer fee. She's going to make an awesome little sport pony for someone (well, big pony, small horse.)

Thanks for taking the time to read this, everyone! And enjoy Flicka's video from March.

Where are you at? Pasture board at my farm is dirt cheap and I'd be happy to donate training time - 2 months/60 days. Have experience with mustangs, c/t, and natural horsemanship.
