Posted - Sep 17 2009 : 12:45:47 PM Congrats Mommy on your new babies! My buff was the first layer this year out of my new girls. Wish those dang leghorns would learn from her, they just stand in the nesting box like " I know something should happen in here but, what?" I just LOVE baby chicks!

Posted - Sep 17 2009 : 10:15:41 AM Julie- you will love your Orpingtons. We ordered a mixed batch of chickens this summer and made sure that we put a BO rooster in that order to put in with our BO girls next summer. If you ordered from McMurrays your mystery chicken will probably be an Aracauna rooster.

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. Robert Brault |

You can stand there forever and stare. It's funny when they sleep and it looks like they have been steamrolled. Or they want to keep playing and running around and stand there with heads drooping from exhaustion.
Enjoy!
I have 2 buff hens and a buff roo. They are sweet birds.
As fair time draws closer, I'm sure hoping to catch the name of the farm where we saw the blue orpingtons last year
