So hubby is working non stop to get our new coop built, & it will be great(complete with a nesting box from Pam, gafarmwoman )
In the meantime, chicks run around a colossal Great Dane crate & long for their new home. They are constantly in motion.
That is....UNTIL....I put on an old Tom Jones CD..(I know, I know, I am ancient), but from the first notes of "waht's New Pussycat" till the last strains of "Delilah", the chicks laid there, mesmerized by his sexy male tones.
He's still wowing the chicks...40 yrs later.. What can I say

Tom Jones--hmm, that is very interesting. Who'd thought that a 60's crooner would have such an effect on chickens? Maybe you should experiment and try other heart-throbs from the sixties--say, Tiny Tim? Really, though, that is hilarious. Now I know how to quiet my hens when/if I get them.

Yes, we have music playing all the time.. Hubby is addicted to march music, & I finally intervened & just for fun put in the Tom Jones & some 80's dance music. Well as soon as the Tom Jones was over, & the 80's music came on, they were up & being their normal busy bodies, just like they do for the march music. It was just so funny.. It was not late or anything, so I know they were not ready to settle for the night. When the 1st cut of the CD came on(What's New Pussycat), they all stood up, looked over at the stereo & stopped, became instantly calm & laid down..all the way through the whole CD. & these chicks NEVER do that.
They are White Plymouth Rocks, Black Jersey Giants & Australorps..Real sweeties, all of them..

That is so funny! Have you tried other music to see what they do? What kind of chicks are these?
