Posted - Aug 11 2009 : 8:12:17 PM I received a phone call today from my neighbor asking if I lost one of my horses. She came home from work to find a horse in her front yard. We don't know where it came from. We tracked some hoofprints for just a little way down the road. Not sure if it was dropped off or if it got loose. I figured it got dumped. The mare was very skinny. It looked good other than that. I told her to put up some signs to see if anyone lost it before she decides to keep her. What do you all think?

Posted - Aug 12 2009 : 09:01:44 AM Try calling the animal control or Sheriff's office to see if any horses have been reported missing. In my community, everybody calls me when they find wandering horses, and usually I know whose they are. One time, though, There were some missing horses in the county and it took them awhile to track down who they belonged to. And once, one of my horses got away and someone caught her and put them in their paddock! I freaked when I couldn't find her, and was lucky enough to check all the close barns, saw her there, and took her back. But I was MAD. (She wasn't skinny at all.) If someone does claim it, they should be investigated if she is really malnourished. So that's why I'd suggest calling animal control.
