Posted - Aug 03 2009 : 4:29:00 PM My goats are bored. Thats right bored. So I was wondering what kind of toys I can give them to keep them occupied. They cry when I'm not down there to play with them and I can't spend all day playing with them. I'm surpried my neighbor don't complain. I don't really have anything for them to play with or on right now.. Any Ideas of what I can make for them to play on. Thanks! Maggie |

Posted - Sep 15 2009 : 07:29:49 AM Gena You can come over as you are right now and play - just remember if you can't play nicely you are put in time out. Yes, you read that right - when one of the animals gets too aggressive, bossy, or just being a brat they are put in time out. Since they are herd animals - seperation to them works just as well as to kids. Then just as with 2 legged kids I try to understand that we all act out and it is my responsibility as MOM to give options and that means an active goat is a good goat... Also plenty of love and attention will teach respect and well behaved animals and two legged kids.

Posted - Aug 03 2009 : 9:38:20 PM I give my goats a variety of playground equipment - spools, big drums, planks, pallets, logs, and I rotate and change the patterns every week. Also I put treats around for them to seek and eat. Also changing their pastures, taking them for walks - you know all the things you do to keep two legged kids from getting in trouble. I also switch guard animals in the different pastures so they have new buddies to meet, greet and play with.

Posted - Aug 03 2009 : 4:36:31 PM Maggie are they kids? If so just give them barrels or make a wooden tower with a ramp where they can play king or queen of the hill. Also I have really big logs in my kids lot. They love climbing them. Once I put a sheet of thin plywood at an angle on the fence and they used it as a slide. I took videos of them and it's hillarious! They'd jump up and slide down and knock others over. It was too funny. I could watch them for hours doing that.
Anything they can climb up on is great and they have so much fun. I also had an old cabinet they played on. They just love to climb and knock each other off.
Use your imagination and just have fun. They will, too.
