Miss Daisy has arrived to the farm as of last night! Here's the story though...my dh and me have been kicking around the idea of bringing in a female cow but figured it would be years down the road, generally we only have males, we get them when they're a week or 2 old and they've all been jerseys.

So...this is what happens when you spend a day at the farm making strawberry jam with your best friend - you dream up cow ideas and before you know it you're making plans! We found her, called and my dh said it would be a wonderful early birthday present for me so here she is! She's a Brahma/Angus mix so anyone with cow experience please help me out with this new youngin'...I'm use to my Jersey boys and she seems a bit more aggresive, I've spent the day getting to know her and her me and she's coming along quite nice!

Stop by and see my sweet Miss Daisy on my blog! I just put her on there!

Melissa, she is so cute. I bet she'll be huge, too. Have fun with her, but be careful.

She is as cute as a bugs ear, and she is definatly Brahma, those ears are a dead give away. She will push your buttons until she realizes whos boss, so don't let her ever get one up on you, cause she will never forget that. I halter break all my cows, and work their feet and of course their udders from the beginning, you want to get rid of the tickles, other wise you might end up with a kicker, I assume you got her for breeding for beef , she will make a good cross with a seminole or an angus, by her coloring her angus 1/2 is a red I would think, and yes she will dwarf your jersey steer calfs, LOL. Be asertive and work with her everyday, and always end on a good note. That cross should make an excellant mama in the future, protective as hell, so when she does calf, make sure you watch her attitude, especialy around other animals and your dogs, cause she will grind them into the ground if she thinks they are a threat. Is she polled, if not, do it as soon as they start to appear, for safety. Good luck and congradulations.
