Tala is home with me safe and sound! I am so happy! She is settling in beautifully! I can't hardly believe it!

She loaded in the trailer like an old pro and handled the 10 hour hauling perfectly. She is such a lady. The lady that I board her with was just blown away by her. I am so happy! I want to be over there playing with her right now! LOL

I have heard that a lot of the injuries that we have heard about in the news the last few years would be able to be prevented if they didn't race them at 2. But who knows? I don't know much about the racing industry.

On the subject of waiting till a horse is mature enough to ride--the Lippizanner stallions of Venice don't begin training till they're five years old, and it takes at least another five years before they can perform before a crowd. Before the age of five, they just don't have the muscles to do all the moves they do. Maybe the racing industry could learn something here.

Michelle- Yes I think that it is better for all breeds to wait a bit until they are older. 2 is just so young. I will start Tala next year when she is 3 on riding, but for example, endurance races don't let you sign up until 4 or maybe even 5!

Tala has grown even in the couple of weeks since I saw her last. It's amazing! I have to go look up a quick treat I might be able to make before going out today :D hehehe I'm so giddy!

Still smiling and happy over your news. :) Makes me wonder...paso finos are still growing in their 5th and 6th year too. I wonder if as we're learning more about optimal horse care people are coming to realize it is better for the long term for all breeds (?) to wait longer before riding/training? I don't know much about other breeds, but your comment about waiting until she's 5 made me wonder. We're going to start at 3 with Mr. Q. my goodness how time flies! There is no shortage of good things to do in the meantime while they grow up. I'm so glad she's home with you!

Happy dance! So, I suppose this means few and far between e-mails as you're out with your new baby! I'm so happy for you. Give her an extra ear rub from me. :)

We make a difference.

Connie- Yes she is a sweet heart and I love taking care of her.

She doesn't really like the cross tie set up at her new barn, but she will get used to it. She got round-penned then a bath which she really needed. We then took her for a little walk around the barn and let her graze a bit before going back to her pen. She is such a good willing girl. She even let Nora sit on her back while she grazed. Maybe by the time she is ready to be ridden she will be used to people being on her back because of Nora :D

No, I didn't name her, Tala is her registered name. It means "First" often as the first offshoot of a palm tree. Tala is the first born of both HS Infinite and Thee Fancy Lady so it is really perfect!

Today we are going to round pen her, take her for a walk, give her a bath and braid her mane and tail up again. My niece is here helping. I will try to get some good pictures of her, but can't guarentee anything will come out! Taking pictures of horses is hard!

Alee, I'm so happy for you! I have a very playful (to say the very least) Arab here and we absolutely love him! You're going to have years of happiness with her I'm sure! Do you have any pictures posted yet, I'd love to see her! What a pretty name she has! Did you get to name her? Our playful guy is Aries Breeze aka Breezy or Pickles...I'm not sure how I came up with Pickles, it's funny how you find nicknames for your animals!

Kristin- Not for another year really. Arabs don't stop growing until they are 5, so you can do light riding at 3. I AM so excited! :D
