What's up with this? Daisy was a shelter dog, and probably an outside pen dog because she was adopted from a very rural shelter, but she has always done well and understood the concept of going to potty outside. But prior to Violet's birth, she started going to potty outside....and then INSIDE. Both poo and pee. You can take her out at 11:00 pm and sometime during the night she'll poo.

I've ruled out illness, because everything else checks out. I think it's more behavioral.

I'm thinking we're going to have to get a crate and start crate training her...can't have Violet getting ready to crawl with tinkle and poo all over the place!!!

Any other thoughts?

Well, age is debateable. When we adopted her, we were told she was about 9 and in very poor shape. After some good food, a good worming and many nights snuggling on the sofa, she's more like 5 or 6. She runs faster than our German Shepherd and is quite the nose in the woods. Very active little thing...

She could be jealous of the baby, but this started before she was born. My thought is that right about February, she started slipping out of the yard to run off into the woods (she always comes back) but she had to get a bath just about everytime because she would roll in deer poop and we wouldn't let her up on any of her "favorites"...so now she has to go out with us. So she is like all other dogs in the world and has to potty on a leash, which she does (both pee and poo)...it's just that she comes back in and does it inside too.

I'm thinking she's just being a stinker!

How old is she? Older dogs sometimes loose some control over that stuff. :(

Or is she jealous over a new baby?

I agree, Jonni- I think it is a behavioral thing too. Try the crate training. Also there is a product out there that looks like one of those glade plug ins but they are dog hormones that help them be calm and less nervous. That might help too. Plug one in right by her crate and hopefully that will help her "last out" the night.

*hugs*
