Alee	Posted - May 29 2009 : 1:53:20 PM This is my Straight Egyptian Arabian Filly. She is only a month younger than Nora, so she is two years old. She is in paddock condition so I have been round penning her a lot and can already see an improvement in her topline and muscle tone. She is a sweetheart with a spirited nature. Some horses you have to round pen for a minute or two before they really start paying attention to you, but Tala has paid attention for minute one. I am so proud of her. She is still growing and will get more and more beautiful. She hasn't really cooperated in letting me get a good profile picture. Oh and I will be adding two videos to YouTube later today. Alee	Posted - May 30 2009 : 05:39:27 AM Hi Nikki! Yes, I would love to ride her in shows. But I need to become a better rider myself first. I haven't ridden in years and never had very much formal schooling in the first place. Most of the horses I rode were just old cow horses so most were very well trained and the rider didn't exactly have to be trained very well. I am hoping the lady that I am going to board her with can give me some lessons. That would be the best scenario for me! I am already starting to get Tala used to her body being rubbed by ropes and things. In a couple of months I will start getting her used to the riding equipment though I won't ride her until at least spring. I was hoping that she would have grown enough to maybe do some light starting this fall/winter, but she hasn't really hit her 2 year old growth spurts yet. The last thing I want to do is damage her growing bones and joints. So maybe this fall and next spring I will be able to just show her in-hand and next year as well. I don't want to take a green horse to a show to be ridden but if she is as fabulous as she has been in the round pen- she is going to pass by the green stage veryy quickly! Alee	Posted - May 29 2009 : 5:21:03 PM Thanks Jennifer- Yes her sire, Infinite is very large and it looks like she is taking after him. She had a nice topline as a foal so I am sure she won't be "downhill" once she matures. Her...well I guess she would be a cousin who is 3 is so much more grown up looking. It's amazing. I had just turned Dima back into her stall and went and got Tala. Comparing the two, Tala looks more like a yearling where the three year old looks more like and adult. I expect her to go through a couple good growth spurts in the next couple of months. I am so excited for her! Tala even likes Nora. I am starting to desensitize her to people "bouncing" by her side and her girth area being rubbed, patted and even her lead rope going there. She thinks I am weird but stands for it really well. She will let me mess with her in the areana with no halter on. She is even learning side passing without a halter. I am so proud of her. I think she will make a great endurance horse once she matures. She is willing to learn and kind hearted but also very bold and inquisitive. I also am going to show her in Halter since most of her breeding lines are Halter horses (though they show great in other disciplines as well). I think I am going to hold off on breeding her until she is at least 5. I want some time to show and play with her before we have to take most of each year easy due to breeding. And hopefully she will have a great reputation by then and her foals will be even more desireable.
