We adopted a male Pomeranian from the humane society a few days ago. He came with the name Bam Bam, which we don't really like and he comes to that just as well as he comes to made up names but we want to change it but need some ideas. I'm always horrible about names until I hear something pop out that I like. Our other pets are Dixie (dog), and the two cats Bandit and Buttons. Please give me ideas!

We've got Pete as our male dog -- Hootie, who's a female German Shepherd, but it could be a boy's name as well. Our last dog we named Bob. Thought it was a boy, as we were told at the shelter. Put it in the car, decided to call him Bob, then got home and found out it was a girl! She had already started to respond to Bob, though, so we just kept the name!

Now ya can help me!!
I'm getting a new puppy today...I'm reading the names. She needs a girl name.
Any suggestions for her? She is a Jack Russell, mostly white with brown head and tail. She is full of energy but also affectionate and loving. She is 4 months old.
Danny likes the name Flippy ! Danny is 8 yrs old and I have no idea where he got the name Flippy. Danny hasn't seen her yet...I just found her today.

We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. (author unknown)

If he's an adventurous little thing, how about the name Tarzan, or Bear? Just a thought. Good luck.

God bless

Thanks for all the suggestions...you guys are the best!! We have decided on the name "Buddy". It wasn't at the top of my list but the kids started calling him Puppy and he really liked that and came to it but I felt silly telling people his name was Puppy, so since Buddy is fairly similar and he likes the sound of it I think it sticks with him. Thanks!!!!

babysmama,
I like Ricky, Bolt, Forest, and Jumper.
I always try to think of rare names.
All the other names that everybody has listed are very common.
Its your choice on the name but I honestly think that Forest and Ricky are two really nice names.
PLEASE don't name him Bob.
Its to popular.
If you named him Bob, no efense. I just personally don't like the name Bob.....

I like to name my critters after my favorite literary characters. My border collie mix is Emma from Jane Austen's book Emma. Or my favorite singers. I had a beautiful Siamese mix cat with the most beautiful blue eyes that I named Frankie. His blue-eyed sister was named Lizzie after Elizabeth Taylor. Our two cats we have now are Maggie, named by my DD 'cause she loves the Rod Stewart song, and Stryper, named so because of the white stripe down his nose. And then we have the little dog, a min-pin chihuahua who came with the name Harley and we just left the same. If I could rename him I'd probably call him Digger because he's constantly digging in the yard. Or I'd call him Cat B for cat burglar because he's also a little thief!

I think you should watch your Pom for a few days, Elizabeth, and get to know his personality before you christen him.

I have a 14 yr. old Cocker named Buddy. We saved a puppy (he was 5 months at the time) last yr that someone left at the local truck stop and we named him Mack. Now we have adopted a tiny puppy (about 7 weeks now) that we are told is part Blue Pitbull and Bull Mastiff. Her name is Gracie May...That is all for now...

My friend has a little dog & his name is Dash. I always liked that. reminds me of the Incredibles. My dog's name is Wrangler. Not because he is one (he's a Lab).. but my DH loves his Jeep. The people we got him from when he was a puppy named him Hoss. That would be kind of funny on a little dog. Good luck finding the one that fits.

My only male dog right now is Frank (he is a weiner dog) but I love the names:
Buddy, Jack, Skip, and Bob for dogs.
My dad's friend had a dog named Gump when I was a kid. A big old scary dog. It was way before Forrest Gump so I am not sure where he got it.
Oh..I had a friend with a fluffy little dog named Puff.
Good luck. I use a baby name book sometimes when I get a new critter to help with thinking of names.
