You probably know of the problems we have been having with mice. We were down to one tom cat so we put out the word that we were looking for some kitties. Well, my friend called and said her sister-in-law's neighbor had a momma and a brand new batch of babies. Now, that is the word getting around. Anyway, the sister-in-law even delivered them. We put them in my potting shed where we also have a fridge and keep our eggs to sell. That momma cat went crazy and was all over the place and empty egg cartons went flying. We put the babies in a box with an old rug, made sure there was plenty of food and water and a litter box close by and shut the door behind us. Ole Ron and I went out later and momma was in the box with the babies. Ron said that this morning she was in the box with the babies and had eaten all the catfood and seemed content.
Now we are wondering how long it will be before we are overrun with cats and will have to ask someone to help us get rid of them.

Thanks Belle,
Sounds like you have a batch of rainbow kitties. I'd just love to hold them and snuggle with them. Give them a hugfrom me when they're ready!
Have fun in the onion patch.

Rosemary, the babies are all colors, one light yellow, one dk yellow, one gray and one black or dark gray. Ole Ron said there is 5 babies but I have only seen 4. Anytime I am out there Momma is in the box with them and I don't want to disturb them.

Thanks for the info on posting pics. One of these days I will take the time to figure it out, may have to get in touch with you. Right now the garden is calling. Got to get the weeds out of the onion patch.

The ideal situation would be to have only 1 female. We still want a litter of babies a couple of times a year. We can't seem to keep just a few. They either run away, varmits get them or something. If we have our favorites spayed or neutered then loose them, we are back to no cats. Got to find a happy medium. Momma cats are the best mousers. That is why we have them. They are not pets. If they were pets or lived in the house, it would be different.

Rosemary, I will learn to post pics one of these days.

Congrats Belle,
Any pics?
I'm hoping to get some barn cats this spring...
Good idea, Diana. Here is a web site for cheaper neuter/spay or check your SPCA

Why don't you see if you can get a group rate for the spay and neutering. Our vets around here would help you out with that.
