Good luck with your bees! They are very interesting to work with. Several years ago we had 3 hives, and the best honey. They ended up swarming after a few years. Sad. My husband finally gave the equipment to another fellow just starting up. I smile every time I drive by their place. I can see the hives from the road. My husband's little joke is: (you have to say this really fast.) "Would you like a side of bee for your freezer?" Our friends got a chuckle out of it since we do not raise beef.

Good luck to you! I've kept bees for a year now and I love it. My dh keeps a website up for it-it is:

http://home.roadrunner.com/~mrfreeman/beekeeping/beekeeping.htm

if you want to check it out. There are also pages about other stuff we have going on.

this is kinda silly, but that makes my heart melt.

I have developed such a soft spot for the little buggers over the years esp with all the probelms with CCD going on. i love that you have kept people updated on them.

big hugs too you Cheryl.

and yeah Kris, i would probably freak out too.

Cheryl, your trip home with thousands of bees in the car for 5 hours was quite an exiting adventure, I bet. Any stings? I would be the helper, too. I love bees but I would probably freak out at the most inopportune moment and scare them all and then they'd attack me. But I am sure you will be all nice and calm. Have fun with your new bees and I am happy for you.

Kris
