What is wrong with a human being who starves and neglects an animal?
I hate to judge people, but this person, Jason Meduna, of Alliance Nebraska, shold spend the rest of his sorry life behind bars.
Neighbors said he was a "know it all" apparently not.
An animal rescue group found sixty dead horses, including foals, and 200 other horses weak and emanciated at this monster's ranch

Gah! This is awful. I used to work at the Humane Society. This story you tell is just one of MANY that happen in this country. I can't respect a person that doesn't feel an ounce of conscience for any animal--whether they are wild, pets, or food animals.

Pride goeth before a fall. How horrible that innocent animals had to go down with him.

The polo ponies were killed accidentally by a vet. He was administering medications that are not used on horses in this country and got the dosage wrong. I work for the rescue that took custody of the horses that were still alive in Nebraska there were 200 more horses out there and actually 78 dead ones. They have now all been re-homed into either foster or adoptive homes. The total cost was about $40,000. We still have 5 needing homes but when you consider there were 200 to start, alot of caring people have stepped up and done a wonderful thing taking in horses that are almost starved.

May the force of the Horse be with you.

But the Polo Pony's WERE poisoned in some way weren't they? (Was it intentional, or Accidental? I never heard one way or the other) Those horses died a horrible death, true, but they lived GOOD lives-- like Race Horses, they were pampered-- mostly because they were worth A LOT OF MONEY! They were probably also all insured too, so the owners will recoup their FINANCIAL losses, But Those poor mustangs. There is nothing sadder than to see an animal starving to death. (except to see CHILDREN suffering, but we won't even go there) sigh.....

I honestly don't feel the man INTENDED for things to happen the way they did, but, like it was said in the report- his EGO got the best of him. Sad. So VERY sad.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. ~~ George Carlin

What a waste. Horses are such beautiful intelligent creatures. The guy should be horse-whipped. Makes me sick to my stomach the way some people treat animals of any kind. He is apparently very sick. Too bad, someone didn't report it sooner maybe some of the horses could have been saved.

Tragic. Poor horses. Poor guy, even. I can't imagine the shame and sorrow he must now feel. I can only hope he will come out of it with a lesson learned. High price to pay for pride. Poor guy. His hopes were really just beyond his means. I really do wonder though...how many horses did he think he could "accept" losing in his mind before he would have done something differently? Or did he rationalize that because they were mustangs, that this was perhaps no different than what they would face if they hadn't been rounded up for auction? Faulty thinking anyway. Bottom line, horse and human tragedy. I hope they all get better, the guy and the horses.

We make a difference. http://huckleberrywine.blogspot.com
