Posted - Mar 20 2009 : 1:52:28 PM I love this time of year..not such a pain to milk early... 6am is much nicer when it is 35 degrees or more instead of 3 or 4 degrees! And the hens are laying again..not alot, but enough. I have plans for new chicks coming soon, have started some peppers and herbs for my garden and have seeds together for more peppers and tomatoes to start soon. The warm sunshine just feels so good this time of year. Mona is basking in the sunshine and starting to shed her winter coat. The kids are drinking milk like crazy ...our house goes through nearly 2 gallons a day..so I am sure thankful for Mona. She sheep will be sheared soon..and my little angora goat too. Spring is my favorite season when it happens. Fall is my favorite when it happens too. I am looking forward to doing some yard cleanup and things that I couldn't do even last weekend yet. I hope you are all having a springish sort of day!! We have snow predicted for Sunday. But I won't think about THAT today!!

Posted - Mar 25 2009 : 10:57:27 PM The days have been very sunny here this past week or two, but ugh! It's SO deceiving when you actually go outside in it .... BRRRRRR....! The North Wind has been blowing for the past several days -- except today, which was LOVELY, but I was too busy running around doing errands to enjoy it like I SHOULD have. That North Wind blows in the COLD air in the Winter time and the HEAT in the summer! It's just the OPPOSIT with the South Wind... sigh... hopefully tomorrow will be just like today. Only I will be home long enough to actually ENJOY IT! Oh, and MY favorite seasons are Spring and Fall too! ~~~ Tracy

Posted - Mar 23 2009 : 8:45:12 PM WEll, so much for that spring weather...it snowed here this morning pretty hard. BUT...it was gone by noon. It was kinda disturbing to wake up to THAT though. I know better than to expect REAL spring until May...but still. It was cool and dreary all day today. Sarah..I saw a robin this evening..made me smile big time. I hope by this weekend it is sunny and nice again.

Posted - Mar 23 2009 : 11:16:26 AM Spring and fall are my favorite times of the year also. I like winter just because some of the work slows down and I need the break. Summer just is to hot but I know we need it to make the garden grow.
My goats have started kidding and in about 8 weeks I will have milk again also. I started some brocc. and kale plants in the greenhouse. I also have lettuce growing in an earth box too. The chickens are giving me way more eggs than I can handle........about 21 a day. I am not use to having so many chickens. I did sell 4 doz. today thank goodness.
Today is sunny here and very spring like. It smells so good outside. I put the new babies and their moms out to bask in the sun today. They are really enjoying it. The birds the past 2 weeks have been singing......I just love to hear the birds. Took a long walk with hubby on the farm this morning and it was like heaven. Hope everyone is getting out and enjoying the day.

My son is up at the Junior Olympics in McCall- (well- Brundage actually) cheering on his best friend- and it is foggy, misty and a bit chilly- wish is was as nice today as yesterday! But soon the snow and mud ill be all gone! YAY! And my crocuses are coming up- yellow, blue, beautiful reminders that spring is on it's way!

Posted - Mar 21 2009 : 07:47:40 AM We had a gorgeous day yesterday and like Aunt Jenny I only want to think about warm not the predicted storm! Today we are working on the projects from yesterday..cleaning up debris from winter, pruning brambles and roses. We are getting an egg today from our hens, goats are kidding and the cow should calf soon. The birds are singing, so nice to hear that in the morning! I can't stop thinking about the garden at the new place..we will know about that in a few days.

Posted - Mar 21 2009 : 04:27:59 AM The cows sure know how to enjoy the warm sunshine. It sure is alot nicer for them, instead of dealing with below zero temps. Though this morning we are dealing with a couple inches of snow again. But it was 32 when I got up to milk. The vacuum pump likes this warmer weather alot better too!

Posted - Mar 20 2009 : 6:29:57 PM It was a beautiful day here. A little chilly, but blue sky lovely. Leaves are beginning to come out on the apple and pear trees and all the maples. The blue birds are flying all over the place. And I am actually loving this place. The animals are happy and full. I am waiting on goat babies. What could be better? The first day of spring was pretty here.
