Hi ladies...I'm working on putting together a newsletter for our cat shelter, and I'd like to have a section for publishing a pet treat recipe each month. Do any of you have a tried and true one you'd like to share?? When we get around to printing the newsletter off, I'll send you a copy if your recipe is in it... :D

Here's what I make for my pup. she loves them :)
Pumpkin Biscotti (for dogs)
1 cup canned pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
1/4-cup honey
1/4-cup water
2 Tablespoons canola oil
1 large egg
1-teaspoon vanilla
4 cups all-purpose flour (I have even used 1/2 wheat & 1/2 white)
1-teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4-teaspoon baking powder
1/4-teaspoon baking soda
1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, honey, water, oil, egg, and vanilla. Stir in flour, cinnamon, baking powder and baking soda until well mixed.
2) In the bowl and using hands (or a Kitchen-aid) knead lightly until dough holds together. Transfer to a lightly floured surface. Divide dough into four equal pieces. Shape each piece into a log. Flatten the logs to about 2-3 inches wide. With a fork, poke holes all over the surface of the logs. Place about 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until firm. Place pan on a rack and let cool for 30 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees.
3) With a sharp knife, cut each log crosswise into 1/4 inch thick slices. Place cut side down, about 1/2 inch apart on baking sheets. Bake for 30 minutes longer, or until completely hard. Transfer cookies to a rack and let cool completely. Store in a tightly sealed container for up to 30 days.

Here is my dogs favorite ~!
All Natural Dog Biscuits
2 1/2 cup flour
1/2 t onion or garlic powder
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2t salt
6 T bacon fat
1 egg
1t brown sugar
1/2 cup water
Mix it all up, knead a bit, roll out 1/2" thick. Grease cooked sheet, and bake at 325* for 25-30 minutes. I use a dog bone cookie cutter, and my dog loves them
