Posted - Mar 04 2009 : 3:03:51 PM I am just not having good luck with these auction chickens.
I had to put 2 more in the infermary last week and they were much better. So I let them out in the yard with the others. I went for a walk with the goats out back and when I got back one of them was in the duck pond ( just a little kiddie pool) drowned.
I felt so bad. The other one was right next to the pool. Poor thing. So I'm down to 7 and I hate odd numbers.

Posted - Mar 06 2009 : 4:50:34 PM I will not go back to the auction here again. I learned my lesson. It's just sad that people will sell sick animals to unsuspecting people.
Anyway, she is much better now and running with the others. So all is well at the moment.

Posted - Mar 06 2009 : 2:22:07 PM Hi Kris, You would probably have better luck if you stayed away from Auction birds and bought them instead from a reputable breeder. Contact your local poultry club and get a list of breeders. Usually auction birds come with a shady history. Good luck, Sara |

Posted - Mar 04 2009 : 8:58:34 PM I'm sorry about the chickens! I hope things get better for you soon. I have been wanting to raise some laying hens. I just have to get my dad on board.
