I thought I would introduce myself here, since it seems my life is lived in the barn some days. We raise and show miniature horses which are wonderful little furballs right now.
We've added 5 hens and a "roo" this year (bantams, but they are laying and the eggs are wonderful) along with 3 calves this year.
(we're not going to milk, just for beef)
Just wanted to say hello from Wisconsin!

Welcome Anne, nice meeting you here! I love your pics, they are so pretty. Right now, other than 3 dogs we have some peafowl. But I want to get some more guinea fowl this spring. The barn is a pretty neat place to be, I agree!

Welcome Anne! Your pictures are wonderful...what beautiful animals! We have llamas, angora goats, and chickens. We're not expecting babies this year, but we're buying some new animals, so we'll have some excitement anyway :) And I am way tired of Oregon winters this year!

ok let's see if I can figure out how to post a couple of pictures, hmmm

If it shows this is a wonderful little mare we call haley and her 08 filly.

and this will be "Leo" he's a real sweetie, also an 08 foal.

We are wxpecting 4 foals through April and May of 09.

We have two stallions. 7 mares and six assorted youngsters, a few geldings and a couple of fillies.
They are super hairy and shaggy for the winter but shed our beautifully.
now let's see if those pictures will work.

Welcome Anne! Like the rest of the Midwestern farmgirls, we are all ready for spring! Sure hope we all get a early one.

The horses sound adorable. My aunt used to raise miniature horses too. She always called them her ponies. She just loved them. Post pictures when you can!

Hi Anne and Welcome from Idaho. I used to live just south of Lake Geneva in Woodstock IL. I love Wisconsin. It's beautiful and I really miss the fish boils on Fridays. You will really like it here, it's like "home".

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
We are enjoying our temps today but the winter storm on it's way for tomorrow will make us "pay" for it!
All of the little horses are outside today for as long as I can leave them there because I don't think they will get out tomorrow.
As it is with all of the melting we temporarily have "waterfront property" thanks to a spillway which runs through the property.
The horses are looking shaggy and muddy, but they might as well enjoy it while they can.
I'm wishing hard for the weather to improve and stay there I have three of my little ones (two not so little about 36 inches) to start in harness this spring.
We love to drive these little horses/

Hi anne, welcome to the farmgitl forum. I guess a lot of us spend a good part of our time in the barn. I have 2 minis (horses that is) they were minis once but got a tad too tall. Tuffy (at one time his registered name was 'Midnight Special Tuff E Nuff) and Bucky. Tuffy grew to 40inches and Bucky 37''. They are my babies though. Little ones can ride bucky but not Tuffy.
We used to raise chickens for eggs and I always had a few Banties--good brooders and the eggs are excellent.

I talked long enough--Welcome!! MB

Hi, Anne! Welcome from Kentucky! And I've got the 'tired of winter blues', too. Although we're having a good day today(the ONLY one in the forecast for the next week). Miniature horses are so sweet. There is a man who has some here in Louisville(he has a large city lot) and when I used to walk my dogs on the parkway where he lives, the horses would come over to check us out. :D One of my dogs is almost as large as they are!

More greetings from NC!
Can't wait to hear all about the barnyard : )
--Its probably not even fair to say--but I'm really tired of the winter and I'm nowhere near Wisconsin! : )

Greetings form NC

Wisconsin is one of my favorite states.

We visit Appleton every few years for a big fireworks convention.

There's also a good swimming store there too.

The people are so friendly, the pubs are great, and of course, the cheese!

Hi Anne. I'm tired of Wisconsin winter for sure. Sleet this morning, 4-8 inches snow for tomorrow, predicted. Yesterday I hung clothes outside to dry!
Have fun on the web site.
