That is so exciting! I remember my first egg was from our Americana hen; we poked a hole in it and blew the insides out. I painted it with clear nail polish to harden it a bit and used jewelry wire to make it into a Christmas tree ornament. It's one of my favorites, still. Hope you have many more coming!

Congrats!!!! They are indeed BEAUTIFUL!! Trouble with foxes? Our biggest problem was a family of skunks! They love eggs. We had to bury wire down a foot below ground to keep them from digging into our pen. I so miss being on our little farm. The only other problem we had with fresh eggs??? Keeping enough for us! Our friends loved them. By the time we increased our flock, expanded the pen and cooping area, we ended having to sell and move "to the city". Oh how I miss it!!!!!

From Cleveland to Idaho - what a ride!

Yay! First Eggs are so exciting! Enjoy them. My silly chickadees are only laying two a day again. I think it's the lack of light. I hope one's not going broody again! It took months to get Miss Broody Boots laying again..
