Here is a picture of the most a chicken can molt!

Actually she is starting to grow back the new feathers. But man does she look terrible. She is probley 3 years old, maybe 4.

That poor chicken. That is proof that nature should not be messed with.
Sorry about my picture being so small.

hee hee it's not my bird. It's a genetically engineered chicken with no feathers.

That will scare the pants off any tricks or treaters you get this year! Hard to tell who's bird is uglier, Michele's or Mary's!

OMG! What is that? That is scary! Is it supposed to look like that? It seems like it'd be cold all the time, poor thing.

How about this ugly bird! Featherless chicken:

My hens are heavy into the molt. Also not laying many eggs. My pullets are beginning to lay so last night we started culling the hens. A neighbor came and got 5 of them. Now on the way to the stew pot. Tocos and enchilidas more likely. We don't eat our hens. Just don't seem right. But then, I guess I have never been really hungry.

Wow, that is one ugly bird! Is this one of your brown hens? Any of the others having this big a molt going on?

Apparently that's what mine are doing now. Pure ugly. And what a mess of feathers all over. And not a single egg. I am so disgusted with chickens right now. But I guess it's something they just gotta do.
