Posted - Sep 18 2008 : 2:39:57 PM It is amazing to me how the lost souls of the animal world make their way to my farm. You can see a couple of pictures of the little lost doe who has made her home with me and my goat kids. She appeared two months ago and I had hoped that the herd that graze in my forest would adopt her but no such luck. She has learned that my dogs will protect her, my llamas will share food with her and now my goat kids have counted her as one of their own.
Visit my blog to see her and I also have included new stories and introductions to some of my other four legged family members.
I will also be having a give away that will end Sunday night for the person who leaves the most comments - please visit if you have the time. The goody package will have some great gifts that are favorites of my farm customers - Good Luck and happy reading.

Posted - Sep 21 2008 : 10:18:16 PM Thought I would give everyone an update...
The orphan doe has been showing the new one the ropes - where I have the extra water placed for those who come thru. When I let out the chickens in the morning. To stay close to llama boy and not to get in the way of the working dogs unless there is a problem. They are making themselves right to home. The new on is still limping but from what I can tell there is no bleeding wounds, no bullet holes and I think it is that it landed wrong or twisted it. I am also guessing this must be another female because my llama boy chases the male deer and he seems to except this one. Although he also is very kind to injuried critters.
Today Llama boy saved me from my neighbors cattle. As seems to be the case, everytime they go to move their cattle they lose some and they come right to my farm. I went out to do the morning chores and all of a sudden my llama boy was alarm calling and running towards me - I spun on my heels to see what was behind me - the deadly cattle - just kidding but you would think their was a mountain lion behind me the way Llama Boy was acting. He hates cattle and horses - two things we never raise so of coarse they are the enemy. He charged at the cattle sending them running. I called the neighbor to report his cattle had taken again to smashing into my fence. Needless to say Llama boy was my shadow, watching over me while I went about my work. The two deer spent the day in the backyard eating and rest - they two do not like the cattle because that is the neighbor who also shoots them. Well, that was another exciting morning at the Funny Farm.

Posted - Sep 20 2008 : 08:16:14 AM UPDATE
This morning when I awoke there is my little gal with a friend - I can not tell what the sex is but it is about a year older then her but has a wounded front right leg. From best I can tell the injury is not bleeding and the sweet animal can put a little bit of weight on it. I know it is not her mother because of the way they act with each other but I think the new one knows that she is safe here to rest, recoup and will get some food. I have made sure that the dogs leave them alone and I have postponded my morning chores to give them some time to rest. I am hoping that after some time to rest I might be able to get a closer look at the leg thru the binoculars. They are too far off to get a good photo for now.
