I don't have any farm-type animals although I would really love to start a chicken coop for egg laying hens. I need to do more research on the subject. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? Are there any good (and reliable) sites online, any good books on the subject. Thank you so much for your help!

Hello Alee, I checked out most of the badges but I don't think I clicked on this one. I will have to go bak and check it out. That will be great to get something done and earn a badge! How fun! Thanks for letting me know about it.

We started "Mom's Hen House" last year. I detail it on my blog, and soon, there'll be an article in "Small Town Living" as Tina has requested one. It's been written and sent, along with several pictures.

Backyardchickens.com is an awesome site. You'll find it very addicting!

And guess what Chelsey! You can earn a merit badge by doing this! Have you checked the merit badge requirements out yet?

Julie and Cheryl- Thank you very much for your suggestions! I really appreciate it! I have also purchased used books from Amazon.com and I have never been dissappointed as well.

Thanks a bunch!!

Chelsey, I was given a great book How to Raise Chickens...by Christine Heinrichs *everything you need to know.. My sister worked at Barns&Nobles for awhile.. But I find many used books in great shape on line at Amazon.com.. Some are brand new others are listed according to condition and I have never gotten a bad book.. Good luck

www.backyardchickens.com is one of my favorite sites. Storeys Guide to Raising Chicken is a great book. I started my first flock back in May. No eggs yet but I don't think it will be long!
