ugh!!!!!!!!!!!! For a couple of weeks now our feed buckets are moving and dumped over with lids off! I can't figure it out if it's the horse but I have moved buckets way back so I think it's racoons! Besides trapping them what other tricks should I try to keep them out of the feed buckets. thanks!

I use bungee cords AND a big cinder block on top of the galvanized garbage can I use for chicken feed. If racoons get into THAT, I'd be totally amazed.

We do the same thing as Brew Crew... we use garbage cans but big ones. also you should I think bungee cords woulsd work perfectly!

Molly and Heather, thank you! I bet bungee cords would work! We have an area in our barn set off to the side with fencing so the goats can't get to it, but I think the horse can lean her head over far enough. So I think bungee cords will work well!

I use bungee cords to hold my lids on too. The goats can get the lid of the feed container and will just help themselves.

We have some pretty strong wind that comes through sometimes and all my feed pails are outside. So, even if the lid fits securely, a big gust can take it right off! I use mini bungee cords (from the dollar store) to hold the lid on. We just have those galvenized 'garbage' cans for feed. Maybe something like that would work for you?
