my poor little golden retriever/corgi mix has been allergic to TX since we got here every summer it's just horrible. I called the vet today who always gives her a shot of cortizone but hates to do it too much. I ask if I could give her benedryl and that is working!!! She is napping and has stopped itching! Do any of your animals have allergies?

We have an Aussie/lab cross who has skin allergies, been on Rx for two years and is now on lowest dose, does fine. My border collie got hot spots on her rear last summer, which finally cleared up when I started giving her scrambled eggs (ours, fresh) with her kibble -- for some reason I thought she needed more protein & fat, and it worked.

My cat got this last summer when it got so hot

Poor thing lost all the fur between his legs but nowhere else. It cleared up on its own as soon as it started getting cooler

Our Labs have been taking Benedryl daily for 3 years, it's the only thing that works for their allergies. They each get two twice a day.

I used to have a dog that would get terrible skin infections in hot, humid, weather, no matter what we tried to do to prevent it. It usually took cortisone to clear it up.
